The name comes from our townland in Abbeyknockmoy where we grew up. It is fitting that the meaning of Abbert in Irish is “offering”. That is what we do. We offer the best Irish artisan food and drink, with some inclusions from further afield, as well as carefully chosen lifestyle products made in Ireland. Our lifestyle and grocery store shares its home with the multi-award winning restaurant we opened in 2016. People gather there to eat and drink, often after shopping at Abbert. The same food and drink is available in both. Two businesses. One heart. 

When Covid 19 forced us sisters Aoife & Siobhan Flaherty to close the doors our their restaurant Gather, in Tuam, we took the opportunity to diversify and opened Abbert, an artisan grocery & lifestyle store.
Abbert the name of the townland where we grew up represents the Irish name Aidhbeirt which signifies ‘an offering’.  In Abbert we are offering you the same quality food & drink you associate with Gather alongside the very best Irish artisan products & crafts.

We have our own in-house sweet and savoury goodies, delicious homemade ready meals from our sister restaurant Gather – This local institution is right next door so you can treat yourself to a dine-in meal instead- Food to go includes seafood chowder, dahl, beef stroganoff, Thai chicken curry, lasagne, vegetarian quiche, tiramisu, apple crumble and cinnamon rolls..The shelves are groaning with stellar Irish products like Builin Blasta smoked onion mayo, Bean and Goose chocolate, Harry’s Nut Butter, Wildwood Vinegars and our own award winning Gather salted caramel.

Abbert has a brilliant range of hampers and can create bespoke versions featuring our own sweet and savoury goods as well as Irish artisan food and drink products (including cult favourite, Harry’s Nut Butter), candles, pottery, socks and skincare, which can be delivered nationwide. We also create beautiful hampers, like our ‘Night Before Christmas’ which contains a mix of Irish cheeses & cured meats, Irish smoked salmon, raw honey, chutney, crackers & sweet treats ideal for a night in front of the fire.
